Atlantic Seaboard North

Coastal zone exposed to storms and erosion.

Mayo County, located on Ireland’s Atlantic coast, is characterised by a mix of coastal landscapes, peatlands, agricultural areas, and small rural communities. The region is increasingly affected by climate change impacts such as flooding, coastal erosion, and changing rainfall patterns.

As a GRACE replicator region, Mayo will build on the experiences of the demonstrator regions to explore innovative approaches to climate adaptation. The project will support local stakeholders in identifying and implementing nature-based solutions and community-driven strategies that enhance resilience while protecting valuable ecosystems.

Participation in the GRACE network will enable Mayo to strengthen its adaptation capacity through knowledge exchange and collaborative learning.
