Limfjorden

A fjord landscape sensitive to flooding and coastal change.

The Limfjorden region in northern Denmark is a diverse coastal landscape that connects urban centres, rural communities, and extensive agricultural areas. Characterised by its fjord system and low-lying coastlines, the region faces increasing climate pressures, including heavier rainfall, flooding, sea-level rise, and impacts on water quality and ecosystems.

Within GRACE, Limfjorden will serve as a demonstration area for integrating innovative climate adaptation solutions across interconnected land and water systems. The focus lies on nature-based approaches for water management, climate-resilient infrastructure, and strengthening community engagement in climate action.

By bringing together local authorities, researchers, and civil society actors across the region, GRACE supports the development of scalable solutions that enhance resilience while fostering sustainable regional development.
